7 Easy Electric Guitar Songs for Rock Metal Beginners
7 Easy Electric Guitar Songs for Rock Metal Beginners James W. Looking for easy electric guitar songs? If youre ready to start laying down some heavy riffs, keep reading. In this article well share seven easy metal songs on guitar that even beginners can learn to play. You may not be a Randy Rhoads or a Zak Wylde yet, but if you have something to say then thereâs plenty of room on the Ozzfest stage! Letâs start with the top seven easy rock guitar songs. Easy Electric Guitar Songs for Rock Metal Fans 1. Iron Man Black Sabbath This may very well be the coolest, heaviest guitar song ever, yet its also just about the easiest one to play. With this simple song, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath virtually invented this style of guitar! Have fun trying out this fun song to play that goes at a tempo anyone can master. 2. Whole Lotta Love Led Zeppelin This is one of our favorite easy rock guitar songs with its timeless, catchy riff that doubles as the hook of the song. It is estimated this riff made a million 14 year olds pick up the guitar for the first time in 1970, and it made believers out of 38 million fans. It made Page a force to be reckoned with and it can do the same for you at band practice. It doesnât even matter if you can play fast lead guitar like Jimmy, because you can learn this opening riff in just a few minutes. SEE ALSO: 10 Easy Guitar Chords for Beginners 3. Back In Black AC/DC From the epic opening power chords of this song to the distinctive climbing riff played by Angus Young of AC/DC, this song has it all: simplicity, power, driving beat, and Gollum-like vocals by lead singer Brian Johnson. The A major, D major, and E major chords comprise the foundation, and it is instantly recognizable. 4. Youâve Got Another Thing Cominâ Judas Priest Back in the day when albums ruled radio, most folks were strumming their acoustic guitars to the country rock sounds of Laurel Canyon Blvd and Newport Beach. Then came the aggressive stance of English rockers Judas Priest and their incredible power chords played on Les Paulâs and Stratocasters, and Marshall Amps turned up as loud as possible. When Rob Halford sang about fighting to get out of poverty in the UK Midlands you knew he meant every word. It was a battle cry for youth worldwide. 5. Master of Puppets Metallica With its simple walk down style power chords, this song is reminiscent of AC/DC chord choices. And even if you dislike James Hetfieldâs wild vocals, you will love his rhythm guitar playing. This song begs for no mercy. Bonus: Another one of the best easy rock guitar songs is Killâ Em All, which is on the same album. Its brutal relentless attack is a fan favorite. 6. Lonely Day System of a Down System, or SOAD as they used to be called, play Lonely Day in a cool Db tuning, one and a half steps below standard tuning. The song sounds heavier and darker as a result, even though it is a metal ballad. Anyone can play this one by using fingerpicking on the simple intro parts and letting loose on the power chords. It evokes the utter sadness of men traveling by themselves on tour and watching the world fall apart. RELATED: How to Read Guitar Tabs for Beginners 7. This Means War Avenged Sevenfold Avenged Sevenfolds song This Means War includes a slow-paced riff with a fun audience singalong so it is almost an anthem. You could play this easy rock guitar song in your sleep. A plodding guitar part played on the Sinister Gates model Schecter electric guitar evokes all the angst a metal guitarist can unleash. What Do I Do if I Get Rejected From Medical School
What Do I Do if I Get Rejected From Medical School The following piece was written by Dr. Sahil Mehta. Sahil is the founder of MedSchoolCoach, a medical school admissions consulting company. He has been featured in ourAdmissions Expert seriesand is a former admissions interviewerfor Columbia University. Getting into an American medical school is a difficult task. With more than 60% of applicants rejected each year, its more likely than not that you will find yourself among them. There are several important factors to consider if you dont get into medical school. We recommend a multi-step approach to your application if you find yourself without a seat in medical school. 1. Breathe Yes, it is disappointing. Yes, it can be devastating. Yes, your dreams of becoming a doctor have been put on hold for one year. But take a deep breath, and remember that there are literally thousands of physicians practicing today who found themselves in the exact same situation that you do now. They are taking care of patients, performing surgeries, and enjoying their careers without any evidence of their past rejections. You can make it there too! 2. Evaluate Now is the time to take a few minutes to evaluate what went wrong. Many people can help you do this, and we suggest you take all their advice. Remember, however, that not everyone has a current and in-depth understanding of the process. You can contact those schools that rejected you, but their advice is sometimes generic. (Gain more clinical experience, is something we hear often!) 3. Take action Now that you have figured out your deficiencies, its time to correct them. This may include extra classes or a Masters program if your academics are the reason for your rejection. Or it may involve getting a research or clinical job if your activities were not up to par. The most important thing is to avoid submitting the same exact application again. That is a formula for a sure rejection. 4. Rewrite Yes, its painful, but you will likely have to rewrite your personal statement and activities to better reflect your strengths. You should not reuse the same essay you did last year, although certain parts can certainly be similar. 5. Reapply, but dont rush into it Because you have to make additions and improvements to your application, you may want to think about putting your next applicationon hold for another year. This should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but the bottom line is you do not want to rush into another application without addressing the issues at hand. 6. Think about alternative paths for your next application You should think about applying to osteopathic programs if you are interested in them and you should be! D.O.s are physicians who perform the same exact functions as M.D.s in virtually every manner. Osteopathic programs may be easier to get into, but you will still need to be a great student to attend a D.O. school, just like you must be to get into an M.D. school. 7. Keep your head up Keep your confidence up because it is so important. It can be tough to be rejected from medical school, but make sure not to let it get you too down. Again, many physicians have been through the same process and come out just fine in the end! Check outMedSchoolCoachfor more information. The Three (Main) Styles of Kickboxing Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Savate
The Three (Main) Styles of Kickboxing Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Savate Kickboxing vs Boxe Française vs Muay Thai: Which One Do You Choose? ChaptersWhat Precisely is Kickboxing, Then?American Kickboxing: A Bit of History.French Kickboxing, Savate, or Boxe Française. And Muay Thai Kickboxing â" What Is That?Kickboxing for Fitness. The sport that we call âkickboxingâ actually has a long and complex history, to the extend that it is difficult to call it a specific sport at all. Most of the countries that play it have a different set of rules â" whilst the names that they give to the sport differ wildly too.So, if you were struggling with which style of kickboxing to go for â" either for your physical fitness or for your interest in martial arts training â" then we understand. It isnât necessarily straightforward for those not in the know. But here weâll look at the three main types of kickboxing that you are likely to find in the UK. And whilst weâve added a fourth â" in which you might be a little more interested â" these three are the major styles of kickboxing across the world today. So, letâs learn somethi ng: itâs important to be prepared before you step into the ring! Not really very precise at all. This is the thing. Because whilst going to the boxing gym for fitness kickboxing might sound appealing, sparring in Muay Thai boxing may well sound a little less fun. Weâll come to that precise style â" which uses elbows and knees too â" later on.A Generic Term. But kickboxing begins as a generic term â" one that includes everything from taekwondo to full contact karate, Brazilian jiu-jitsu to mixed martial arts, kung fu to British kickboxing. Each of these individual fighting styles has its own set of rules â" and very rarely do fighters from different styles fight against each other. This hasnât always been true, however. During the sportâs relatively brief formal history, the different styles have come about through their contact â" literally â" with other martial arts.Only since the sixties have different styles we now know as kickboxing â" such as the American and the Dutch, for example â" developed. And, now, the style that most of us know as âkickboxingâ per se, is the American variant. With the establishment of institutions such as the International Kickboxing Federation, a global set of formal rules were developed that promoted competition and brought the sport into the public eye in the west. Now, of course, youâll find kickboxing classes all over the place. And whilst a lot of people learn the sport to take part in proper competitive bouts, most use it for the great workout it offers â" for strength conditioning and for improving stamina, self-confidence, and a general fitness level.(You can read more, by the way, on the health benefits of kickboxing in another article.) Kickboxing can be a pretty brutal sport.American Kickboxing: A Bit of History.Kickboxing itself started, we can say, in Japan in the 1950s. Whilst karate was widely practiced and publicly enjoyed, it wasnât much of a thing at the time to make actual contact with your opponent. This changed when Tatsuo Yamada decided to bring Muay Thai into the ring. With the combination of the full contact elements of Muay Thai and the grace and dynamism of karate, a new style was born. This was kickboxing â" and the problems of definition, formal rules, and style were born right there with it. With each fighter taking different bits and bobs from the two different styles, it was never exceptionally clear â" in the first days at least â" which moves were allowed and which werenât.Kickboxingâs first ruling body was set up in Japan in 1966 and, after this, the sport went global. By which we mean, it went to those countries primarily who did not already have an established tradition of martial ar ts â" such as the US, where this mix of karate and Muay Thai became hugely popular. The Rules of American Kickboxing.Letâs take American kickboxing as the fighting style to look at in a bit of depth, as this is what we generally are referring to when we talk about kickboxing in the UK. Here's a full-blown explanation of the kickboxing rules too.In American kickboxing, the emphasis is on reflexes and agility, and, as such, the ring is kept quite small to ensure close contact between the fighters.Where American kickboxing differs from other forms of kickboxing is that you are limited to the use of fists and feet and you are prohibited from using the low kick. People have said that this rule â" no kicks below the waist â" is a deliberate attempt by promoters to ensure that fighters perform dramatic high kicks. The torso and head are the only legitimate targets for strikes â" and no throwing is allowed.American kickboxing developed out of the Japanese style of full-contact karate a nd western art of boxing â" during the sixties and the seventies. Here are the biggest names in kickboxing. Unlike many of the other kickboxing styles in the west, it is not based on an Asian martial arts technique. Rather, it is a specifically French phenomenon dating back to the nineteenth century. That mea ns that you wonât find savate everywhere in the UK. Unlike its American counterpart â" and the hugely popular Muay Thai â" French kickboxing is a little more niche.Whilst that doesnât mean you wonât find it, itâs a fact that is important to remember.A Distinct Sport.Savate comes out of two traditions: the style of hand-to-hand street fighting that was popular across France in the nineteenth century, and traditional English boxing.Whilst it came to be a respectable sport in the 1920s, when it featured in the Olympic Games, like all folk sports the rules differed from region to region in France. Whilst some traditions favoured open-hand slaps, others developed rules and fighting techniques that permitted the knee strike and strikes to the groin. Punching was not necessarily allowed because, under French law, this was seen as a weapon. In France, originally, the kick â" including low kicks â" was the most important weapon. And it wasnât until French fighters had organised bouts with English boxers that savate as we know it now was born. What to Expect in the Ring.Whereas American kickboxing is close contact, savate demands a bit of distance between the fighters. Itâs actually thought of as âfencing without the swordsâ, as it has developed into a style with elegance, thought, and athletic moves: the style favours excellent footwork, jumps, and movements. In the ring, savate fighters wear special shoes that allow kicks with the toes. The roundhouse kick, the reverse, and the shin kick are all popular moves for the feet, which it involves familiar moves with the fists too: the uppercut, the jab, and the cross. When fought well, it is actually a beautiful spectacle. And if you are looking for a total body workout, savate is the place to come.Check out our beginner's guide to kickboxing! And Muay Thai Kickboxing â" What Is That?Of all the different styles of kickboxing found in south-east Asia â" Pradal Serey in Cambodia and the âBurmeseâ or Lethw ei style from Myanmar â" Muay Thai has become the most popular in the western world.Ascribe to it historical reasons, perhaps â" as Muay Thai, as youâve seen, was one of the great inspirations behind what we call kickboxing generically these days. Itâs a combat sport that uses shins, knees and elbows, and fists â" as well as the clinch or hold.Muay Thai is almost as popular in the UK as American kickboxing. Yet, given the intense contact that it requires, injury is pretty common. Different types of kickboxing have different rulesElbows and Knees. The main difference between kickboxing and its Thai variety â" âMuay Thaiâ, by the way, literally just means âThai boxingâ â" is in its use of lots of different parts of the body. You are not just limited to feet and fists as you are in French, American and western kickboxing more generally. In the same way, Muay Thai is not a sport that has been refined into something gentler and more palatable for a general audience. It remains intense, full contact and the risk of injury is high: you really need to be in exceptional physical fitness to perform it well.Check out the gear you'll need for kickboxing!Kickboxing for Fitness.Whilst these are the three main styles, a lot of people these days prefer to do kickboxing just for fitness. By that we mean, rather than actually sparring, practising the moves in the gym.Whichever you prefer â" the real fight or the fitness regime â" both are amazing fun. So, give it a g o!Find out the health benefits of kickboxing! You don't need to fight at all if you do kickboxing.

The 5 Best Websites for Guitar News and Gear Reviews
The 5 Best Websites for Guitar News and Gear Reviews Maile Proctor Part of learning to play guitar is staying up to date on current events, gear, and industry news. To help you stay in the loop, guitar instructor Matt K. has put together a list of his go-to websites for guitar news Once youâve taken a few guitar lessons, you may feel the urge to learn more about the instrument, and the gear that goes with it. The guitar can become an addiction, and once youâve mastered the chords, scales, and licks, youâre going to want to learn about all the gear and equipment. A guitar isnât just a six-stringed instrument anymore. The addition of an amplifier, pedals, and other fun gear can help produce a number of different sounds. There are several guitar news websites for up-to-date info on guitars and gear, along with in-depth music news, and sometimes even tablature to learn new songs. Maybe you want to learn more about the guitar players that play your favorite songs, or learn when they have a new album coming out. From electric guitar news, acoustic guitar news, and gear reviews, here are my favorite sites to stay in the loop with all things guitar. Music Radar Ill start with my favorite website for any type of gear news, from guitars to DJ equipment, Music Radar. Any time Im looking at a new piece of gear or a new instrument, I go to Music Radar and read one of their reviews. Music Radar also complies lists which make it easier to decide what to buy. For example, before buying a new travel acoustic guitar I checked out their list 32 of the best budget acoustic guitars in the world today. Guitar World Guitar World is less techy, and instead features lots of artist news and guitar videos. You can still learn about the latest gear and even get a quick video tutorial on how to tune the guitar in different keys, but I go to this website to see Dude Plays Metallicas Master of Puppets on Banjo. GuitarPlayer I remember being in the grocery store with my mom and picking up the latest issue of Guitar Player Magazine when magazines were still a big thing. Now, the magazine is online and very easy to navigate. GuitarPlayer always has very informative, interesting articles. For example U.S. Made PRS vs. Korean Made PRS: What is the difference (PRS stands for Paul Reed Smith and is an excellent guitar). GuitarPlayer also has excellent product spotlights that I recommend checking out. Ultimate Guitar Where Music Radar is all about the gear, Guitar World and Guitar Player are about the news. Ultimate Guitar, however, is all about the TABS. When I want to learn a new song, this is my go-to website. They have a great ranking system, so you know which guitar tabs are accurate and which ones were created by an internet troll. Premier Guitar Last, but definitely not least, Premier Guitar keeps you up to date on guitar news, gear, and artists. There are also some great how-to videos, and my favorite feature, the Rig Rundown. This section features a new artist or band every week and shows the guitars and gear they use on a nightly basis. If you want to see how your favorite bands get their sound, check out Premier Guitar. Check out these sites and let me know which ones you like. If you have any other go-to sites for gear and guitar news, let us know in the comments below! Post Author: Matt K. Matthew K. teaches guitar, piano, and music theory lessons in Brooklyn, NY. Five Kingdom Classifications Online Biology Tutors Tutorpace
Five Kingdom Classifications Online Biology Tutors Tutorpace In 1969,R.H.Whittaker proposed the five kingdom classification. He classified the living organisms into five kingdoms. The criteria used for classification are a. Cell structure b. Thallus organization c. Mode of nutrition d. Reproduction e. Phylogenetic relationships. The five kingdoms are Kingdom Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia. Kingdom Monera:-The members are prokaryotic and microscopic organisms. True nucleus and membrane bound organelles are absent in these organisms. Kingdom Protista:-It includes primarily unicellular aquatic eukaryotic organisms. The cells of the protists have true nucleus and other membrane bound organelles and non-membranous organelles. Protistans Kingdom Fungi:-It includes eukaryotic, multicellular, heterotrophic organisms. Yeast is an exceptional fungus which is unicellular. Kingdom Plantae: It includes all plants. They are autotrophs,Some plants are partially heterotrophic such as insectivorous plants and parasites. It includes multicellular algae, Bryophytes, Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms and Angiosperms. They are primarily producers on lands and are immobile .They have cellulosic cell wall. The life cycle of plants exhibit alternation of generation. There are two distinct phases In the life cycle of plants-the diploid sporophytic phase and the haploid gametophyticphase. Both of these phases alternate with each other and this phenomenon is called alternation of generation Kingdom Animalia: It includes multicellular heterotrophic eukaryotes. The cells are without cell wall. They directly or indirectly depends on plants for their food. They digest the food in an internal cavity and store it as glycogen or fat. They have a definite growth pattern. They grow into adults with a definite size and shape. They are holozoic and mobile. They exhibit heterotrophic mode of nutrition.
More Focused with Media
More Focused with Media Your child says that listening to music or watching television helps him or her concentrate when doing schoolwork. But is he or she right? Sitting down to concentrate on homework is hard when you have ADHD. Not surprisingly, kids, teens, and their parents are always on the lookout for ways to make homework less painful. For many families that Ive worked with, arguments often erupt over whether or not the television, music, or other noise should be allowed during homework. Desperate to help their kids get their work done, many parents are willing to make more concessions during homework time than they would for other activities and chores throughout the day. But do things like television and music really help kids with ADHD concentrate? Or are they simply fun distractions? Lets look at what the science has to say. Television: Your child may find homework less painful when he or she is watching television, but chances are his or her work performance is suffering. In a study conducted at a renowned ADHD center, scientists examined the effects of television on schoolwork completion and focus in kids with ADHD.1 When the television was on in the classroom, kids with ADHD, on average, completed significantly less schoolwork than when the television was turned off. They were also off-task more frequently and had to be reminded more often by the teacher to get back to work. Music: Like television, music can help make boring tasks less painful. For example, studies have shown that people will stay on a treadmill longer and find that time goes by faster when theyre listing to music. But is music too much of a distraction for kids with ADHD who need to focus on schoolwork? In the television study described above, the researchers also studied the effects of music and found it to be much less distracting than television. For most of the kids with ADHD, background music didnt have any effect on their performance, and 12% of the kids actually completed more work when they were listening to music! Additional studies of kids with attention problems have demonstrated improved performance on memory tasks when music without a vocal track is played in the background. White Noise: While your child may not be specifically asking to have white noise on in the background while he or she works, research shows that it may actually be helpful for kids with ADHD. A recent study compared the effect of white noise on the cognitive performance of three groups of kids: those with exceptionally high levels of attention, those with average levels of attention, those with low levels of attention2. For the least attentive kids, white noise (at a medium to high volume) significantly improved their cognitive performance. Interestingly, for the kids in the high attention group, white noise worsened their performance. It had no effect on kids with average levels of attention. A handful of additional studies have produced similar results for kids with attention challenges. Bottom Line: Skip the television. If your child wants to listen to music or white noise, then test it out. Does he or she make more careless mistakes on his or her homework, does he or she take longer to complete it? Or, if theres no change in his or her work, but your child seems happier, more calm and content, then that would count as an improvement. Let your child know ahead of time that youll be monitoring his or her progress. Maybe that will even motivate him or her to work better, so he or she can keep the music or background noise around! 1Pelham, W.E., Waschbush, D.A., Hoza, B., Gnagy, E.M., Greiner, A.R., Sams, S.E.Carter, R.L. Ideas to Revitalize Your Teaching Practices
Ideas to Revitalize Your Teaching Practices If you have been teaching for some time, it is easy to get into a routine, but its just as easy to fall into a rut. Whether youre seeking better ways to reach your students or need to infuse a little energy into your processes, here are a few tips to revitalize your teaching practices: Choose professional development that really lights you up. Yes, PD is required, but when possible, pick classes that are relevant for your position and current challenges. Good PD classes can also get you thinking about new ideas, introduce you to innovative practices, and help you figure out how to apply evidence-based research into your practices. Take the initiative to learn from your peers. The other teachers in your building are some of your best resources. Pick their brains. Talk with others about what theyre doing, and share what youve been working on as well. Talk with your principal about instituting some sort of peer coaching program, formal or informal. Build bridges across your school district or with other schools. In addition to collaborating with teachers within your building, find ways to establish connections with teachers in other schools. Seek out ways to visit other schools to observe their practices. Infuse technology into your teaching. The opportunities to bring technology into the classroom today are seemingly endless. Spice up your units and lessons by taking a virtual field trip somewhere or by incorporating blogging, an app, or other tech tools. Get ideas from your schools technology teacher or see if he or she might like to co-teach a lesson. Read teacher blogs for new ideas, tips, and resources. There are many excellent ones out there that will get your creative juices flowing and get you excited about teaching and making an impact on students. Whether you seek instructional inspiration or technology tips, there are many blogs that can help you. Need a boost? Try one or several of the above. Youll get this school year off to a positive start, and your students will notice the difference!
